The tree that the Chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore habitat in is cut down and brought to Los Angeles. Once in L.A. the Chipmunks meet struggling songwriter David Seville. He had his latest song neglected by JETT Records executive Ian Hawke. He is his old college roommate. Dave once had a crush on his next door neighbor claire Wilson. Later winding  up at Dave’s interview. The Chimpmunks hop into his basket and follow him house. In his house Dave finds the Chimpmunks and is suddenly knocked senseless. After waking he kicks them out till listening them sing Only you. Dave then build a deal with them. They sing the songs he writes and Dave’s also a ex manager Gali in exchange. He gives food and resort for them.
